Proverbs 24: Take the High Road
God tells us over and over not to seek revenge. It is so hard not to want to see those who have hurt us fall. But the Bible clearly tells us to take the high road. Vs 17 “ Do not rejoice when when your enemy falls and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles lest the Lord see it and be displeased and turn away his anger from him.” And again is vs 29, “ Do not say It will do to him as he has done to me; I will pay him back for what he has done.’”
Don’t even let yourself think it - for God knows your heart. Instead ask God for a kind and humble heart and pray that he would give you a forgiving heart so that He would also forgive you. For don’t we ask that whenever we say the Lord’s Prayer? Don’t we say “forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us?” Wow, do we really mean that? It’s harder than it sounds sometimes.
Lord give me this day a forgiving heart and help me to love others as you love us. Help me to see others as you do, not as my imperfect eyes want to.
