Proverbs 21: Reminders are a Necessity
Like the Israelites in the desert, we are human and forget so easily the statutes of the Lord. Reminders are always needed lest we stray and walk in our own knowledge (not always the best idea, well never actually).
For being in a relationship it is always a good reminder to exhibit 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 love. Otherwise we could all be compared to the wife in vs 9 and 19, “It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife...It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful woman.” Just sayin - it’s a good reminder to get along. But how? I mean, it clearly states that we aren’t wired to be this nice. Isn’t even says in vs 2a, “every way of a man is right in his own eyes”! As always, the Bible gives us the answer vs 23 says,” whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.”
Geez, I love the instructions of the Lord - now, if the Holy Spirit could just bend our will to obey that would be great! But there would go free will all together - SUCH A CONUNDRUM!!!
This is what Paul meant when he said “why do I do what I know I should not and continue to not do what I know I should.”
My prayer today is that we would approach our Father with awe and wonder. Knowing that the Creater of the whole universe would love us enough to direct our paths and repeat himself over and over so we won’t forget. That He would breath His spirit into us and guide us and love us even when we forget. That we would thank Him for his patience!
Mostly thank him that he does not weigh us on our actions but our intent vs. 2b-3,”but the Lord weighs the heart. To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” He wants our heart and intent - keep seeking and He will be there, guiding and reminding 🥰
