Matthew 11:13 Love in Saddness

Matthew 11:13 Herod had just ordered and had John the Baptist killed and Jesus had been told. They were cousins and “when Jesus had heard this, he withdrew from there to a desolate place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. When he went ashore he saw the crowds and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.”

Jesus was fully God and fully man. I don’t want you to miss that. He felt the sadness that comes with the loss of a loved one. He had feelings! But he doesn’t let his personal feelings get in the way of the mission at hand. He doesn’t let his personal feelings derail him from the work God had set before him. He allowed the Holy Spirit to carry him and continued on. We can have joy along with our sadness. We can still do the work our Father has set before us. We can still love others well, even when our own world is crashing down around us. We can still be a light to the world - because that is what we are allowed to be breathing on this earth for. Did you wake up this morning? You were allowed to do that so you can be a light to someone somewhere. Go do that job! Is your world crashing down around you? That’s ok. God’s got you my friend. Just like He has me. And we will be ok because we are held. We are loved. And we have a heavenly home that is waiting for us and supernatural powers that allow us to live an existence where joy and sorrow can coexist. And that’s an amazing gift. So please, know that today is enough for today. Take a breath if you need to, and talk to God. Then get on with the work He has set before you.
