Jude pt1: Don’t Play With Demons

Have you ever seen those T-shirts that say “Not today Satan” or anything similar to that? I have. I have seen them everywhere. I have also seen similar statements on bumper stickers and wall signs. They seem to be everywhere. They make us smile and give us a a sense of control and power. But here’s a thought for us. Moses died on Mt Nebo in Moab. Remember, he wasn’t permitted to enter the promise Land. The Arch Angel Michael buried his body somewhere secret so that Satan wouldn’t use it for something bad. God sent Michael to check and he was disputing over his body with Satan and never once said “Not today Satan”. Now this is the commander of Gods armies. Instead “he did not presume to pronounce blasphemous judgement, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you.’ “ (vs9)

Now why would he do that? Why would an angel so powerful not throw down and curse Satan or even talk down to him?

Let’s remember - Satan was, and still is, a powerful angel! Michael deferred to the ultimate sovereign power of God when dealing with Satan just as we should. Same as when dealing with demons - they are NOT a joke. We are NOT to address them or even play around with them. We are to seek the Lords sovereign power when confronted. And I say confronted - not when we go looking. We are not to go playing around with dark forces, that is not our place. There is enough dark in this world without our inviting more. Today I pray that the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make His face shine upon you; and give you peace, and give you peace forever.
