John 15: Acknowledge or Abide?
John 15:
I don’t think we have a choice. I mean, we have a choice, but really we don’t. We were chosen by Christ, we did not make that choice so that our salvation cannot be from our own merit (vs 16, “You did not chose me but I chose you.”) But we make the choice, being chosen, to remain. And in that choice, we chose to either be refined and benefit from the glory of God, or be cut off and chose Hell. Vs1-6,”I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine dresser. Every branch (us) that does not bear fruit he takes away. Every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes., that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, it is he that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into a fire, and burned.”
We don’t chose the family we are born into but we can chose whether or not to stay connected to them as we grow up. It’s the same here. Christ may call you to him, He chose you. But are you choosing to fully answer the call and stay in Him? Are you growing and allowing the Holy Spirit to change you and make you more Christlike? Are you seeing a difference in your daily walk? Or do you simply acknowledge that He is there? Are you abiding or accepting? There is a difference.
