John 14: Plain as Plain Can Be!

John 14:

Jesus is giving hints! More than hints - he is flat out telling them what’s going to happen 🥰. Now, over 2000 years later we are like “duh, this makes total sense” but they didn’t know, no sense at all! And to a new believer - it may also make no sense. So let me just tell you (because it’s so cool and exciting!)

There is only one way to heaven and that is to be perfect, completely perfect. No sin AT ALL. We can only compare ourselves to God. Well, that sucks because we are not perfect and will never be perfect. And since God is a just and perfect God, he can’t negate that and go against his own rules. So He has to make a way, in comes Jesus. Jesus IS perfect (because he is also God) and he says - I will take the wrath and punishment for all sin everywhere. Because only a perfect sinless sacrifice will do. And Jesus not only does that to pay the price for our sins out of love, he then wants to have a relationship with us. He doesn’t come in, save the day, and leave (well, I’ve done my part!) nope, he goes even further. Jesus tells us in vs 15,”and I will ask the Father and He will give you another Helper to be with you forever.” So now we have a guide to help us live for Him!!!
