Isaiah 59: It’s Not Me, It’s You

Ever feel “off”? When everything seems right but you know it’s not. You have everything you could possibly wish for and you “seem” to be happy and from the outside it’s all good. But it’s just “off”. God says - hey, it’s not me that can’t save or listen and help; take a good look at yourself and do a self assessment. When things seem “off” maybe that’s what we need. Vs 1-2 “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you. So that he does not hear.” When we take our focus off of God and let it be diverted to satan’s world, we cause ourselves to sin and cut ourselves off from God, creating a chasm making everything seem “off”. I read something (and saved it) that really hit home and was aptly timed right before I studied today. It said ,”If you watch HGTV too long, you’ll become dissatisfied with your home.

If you stay on social media too long, you’ll become dissatisfied with your life.

If you watch the news too long, you’ll become dissatisfied with the world.

Unplug.

Pray.

Read your bible.

Read a book.

Spend time with loved ones.

Take a walk.

Our minds are easily influenced, but we control what the influences are. Choose wisely.”

Thank God we have a Redeemer who came and who promised “ ‘My spirit that is upon you and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children’s offspring’ says the Lord ‘from this time forth and forevermore.” (vs 21)

So when you feel “off”, take stock, regroup, confess your sins and refocus. If you are a Christian and a slave to Christ, you have beaten sin and are ready to start a new day. If not, He is waiting and has beaten sin for you. Confess your sins and ask Jesus to be your God, it’s an adventure that won’t disappoint.
