Isaiah 58: A Warning

There is nothing to say for the LORD has spoken and if we are truly His people we need to heed His word and listen. For we are this nation to which he speaks. We are a nation where there is no sabbath but work, self love and sports rule every waking moment. Where strife and finger pointing is a national pastime. Yet we call out to God and wonder why He doesn’t heal us. We would do well to read this whole chapter again and again, and then, read it again. And then….”if you loose the bonds of wickedness… undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free…share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your own house; when you see the naked cover him…take away the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted… you shall be called the repairer of the breach.” “If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the LORD honorable; if you honor it not going your own ways or seeking your own pleasure or talking idly…..”

Sound familiar?

Oh the work we have to do. But the promises of the LORD are great and the Lord does not lie, in this we can be sure.
