Acts 1&2 In Comes the Spirit

Oh to be the first to get the Holy Spirit!! Can you even imagine? Would you just freak out or would you be like - there’s Jesus for you 😏. I have absolutely no idea. But Peter took it in stride and stepped up pretty quickly. By lunch there were 3,000 converts! I don’t know any preachers with that kind of track record! To God be the glory for sure! And he doesn’t resort to slick media or great music, sound systems, awesome kids programs. He just tells the truth (to be fair, he was speaking and people heard him in many languages- hard to top that). But he didn’t resort to anything fancy to get them to come. Peter just let the Spirit Speak!! Reminds me of that song “Word of God speak

Would You pour down like rain

Washing my eyes to see

Your majesty

To be still and know

That You're in this place

Please let me stay and rest

In Your holiness

Word of God speak”

That’s what they did. But it wasn’t all peace. I love when he says , “That Jesus which you crucified..”. I mean, true. But 😱. Today there’d be an angry mob because no one takes responsibility for anything - even if it’s staring them in the face!

Thank you Holy Spirit. Thank you for conviction. And when we are convicted and repent and turn to Christ and let the Holy Spirit reign in our lives - community happens!!! It tells us “all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and distributing their proceeds to all, any who had need. And they devoted themselves to the apostles teachings and to the fellowship, to breaking of bread and the prayers” (not our kind of prayers but the daily liturgical hours of prayers. I could talk about this for a long time)

Man it would be nice to live like that. What is the result? “And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

Something to look at and strive for in our daily lives. If not in a grand scale, in the sphere we have influence in.
