Wait.
Picture the scene, you probably know it well. You try to make dinner, clean the kitchen while simultaneously putting away groceries, and tell the kids to go play nicely together, and wait. And they wait, wait with the questions and fighting and please can I’s, and the buts and the just one questions.... and, and, and....
If you are a parent do you know the scene well. If you were ever a child you know how hard it is to be told to wait when you want dinner and your sibling is sticking their tongue out at you and the dog just took off with your favorite stuffed animal.
God says wait. Hold tight when the world is falling apart, the kids are going crazy, the job is not working out, your marriage seems more like a long distance partnership, and everywhere you turn Christians are not in favor.
Wait.
2 Peter 3:8-9 tells us, “ Dear friends, don’t overlook this one fact: with the Lord one day is like 1000 years, and 1000 years like one day. The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but his patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.“
continuing on James 5:7-8 “ Therefore, brothers and sisters, be patient until the Lord‘s coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the early and late rains. You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the Lord’s coming is near.“
Dinner will get done, the kitchen will be cleaned, stuffed animal can be fixed, and God does not forget nor let us down.
