1 John 1: Don’t Live a Lie

There is a message from Christ. God is light. Verse 6-10: “If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

Can I just be clear here? Can I clarify a common misconception we tend to have as Christians here in America (I don’t know about other countries but from what I hear this is not the case in the underground church). This does NOT mean you can do what you want and expect God to forgive you, knowing it’s not what the Bible says, and call yourself a Christian! We must, as Christians, be walking in the light of Christ, following His statutes and His way. We must be continuing daily to strive to live up to His way seeking to serve and please him with EVERY facet of our being. We recognize that we will fall short. But this should greatly grieve us, not cause a shrug of the shoulders and an “oh well, we all have our short comings”. Christ DIED. FOR. YOU. Can you LIVE. FOR. HIM?

John tells us that if this isn’t the type of life you are living, a life of service to Christ born out of gratitude and reverence and worship, then you are a liar, plain and simple. Do a self check today. If you are not where you ought to be; get right today. Walk in the light. Live in the light. Have fellowship with the one who created you. Don’t live a lie. You will regret it in the end.
