1 Corinthians 2: Secret Wisdom

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him-“ (1 Cor 2:9, also Is 64:4)

Often times this passage is taken as referring to heaven. That’s a nice concept. I’d love to think of it that way. But we, when we believe we are given a wisdom, a secret wisdom that makes no sense to the rest of the world. It is nonsense to everyone else. Yet to us it makes all the difference. This wisdom saves and is revealed by God alone. Mans wisdom cannot, and is contrived by our own devices. This wisdom is made known by revelation and inspiration (our Bible authors), and illumination (all who seek to know the truth). All three are given by the Holy Spirit.

One can be smart, cunning, able to discern. One can have knowledge and wisdom. But truly the wonders of what God has prepared for those who come to him, trust and love him can only be imagined. It’s the peace and stillness; the joy of the soul knowing that you are loved and held. That you will go home and that you are cared for; and THAT supersedes everything else. That will carry you through. That will give you purpose and meaning in a world where all else will fail. I can make you only one promise - it’s worth it. Trust me
